Hosting

This site is hosted on GitHub Pages by GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you open the site, GitHub processes your IP address and technical request data (such as browser and time of access) in its server logs to deliver the pages and keep the service secure. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in providing the site reliably). GitHub is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR).

Storage on your device

The site stores your analytics choice in your browser's local storage, together with the day of your last visit and whether you dismissed or accepted the offer to install the app (so it is not shown again too soon), and keeps a copy of its files and the briefings in the browser cache so it also works offline. Which stories you have read is kept in the browser's storage (IndexedDB) so the installed app can show the number of unread stories on its icon; the latest briefing is fetched in the background for this. This is strictly necessary for the service you request (§ 25(2) No. 2 TDDDG) and is not sent to us.

Google Analytics

With your consent we use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service of Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland ("Google"), to understand which briefings and stories are read, for roughly how long a story is on screen while you scroll, which summaries and publisher links are opened, and how the site is used. These measurements describe the stories, not you. Google Analytics is only loaded after you make a choice in the banner.

In both cases Google signals and advertising features are disabled and data is not used for advertising. Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses for users in the EU; it uses them only briefly to derive the approximate country. Analytics data is deleted after 2 months. Google may process data in the USA; Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR). More information: Google Privacy Policy.

You can withdraw or change your choice at any time with effect for the future: open privacy settings (also linked as "Privacy settings" at the bottom of the briefing). Withdrawing consent deletes the Google Analytics cookies.

MCP server for AI assistants

The briefings are also available to AI assistants through a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server at daily-news-mcp.bemoredifferent.workers.dev (how to connect). It runs on Cloudflare Workers, a service of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA, which processes the IP address and technical request data of each request to deliver the response, keep the service secure and limit excessive use (requests per IP address per minute, kept only in short-lived counters). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in providing the service reliably). Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR).

To understand which briefings, stories and tools are used, the server reports each request to Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited, see above) from our server, through Google's EU collection endpoint. These reports contain no personal data: no IP address, no browser or device identifier, no cookie and no account information is passed on. They contain the requested tool and story, the response time and result, the country derived by Cloudflare, and the name and version of the assistant software, but only for known products (such as "Claude Code"); any other software is reported as "other". Nothing is stored on your device, and advertising features are disabled.

Images and links to publishers

Story images are loaded directly from the publishers' servers. They are requested anonymously: no cookies are sent or accepted and no referrer tells the publisher which page or story you are viewing. As with any request on the internet, the publisher's server technically receives your IP address and basic browser information. Links to articles take you to the publishers' sites, whose own privacy policies apply.

Your rights

You have the right to access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21).
